This week, I’d like to share with you a concept in creative problem solving and team building.
An effective model that I like to use is the “Six Thinking Hats”, developed by Edward de Bono, renowned inventor of the concept of lateral thinking. This model describes 6 different roles we play on teams and shows the benefit of each role.
Each of the six role is represented by a different colored hat. Most of you will have ONE dominant hat color, with one or two close behind.
Now you know why not everyone sees the world as you do!
By knowing which color hat each individual naturally wears, you will have a better understanding of why people act as they do and you can respond accordingly.
An effective team is one that has a combination of all hats and the flexibility of interchanging hats within team members when a particular situations arises.
